Ok ladies, brace yourself. I don’t know how long this tip will be good for as Google is always changing, but I discovered a way to find some pretty amazing backlinks during my link building a few months ago.

If you are looking for high PR sites to obtain back links from, I got one for you.

During my testing of this technique I picked a keyword phrase for my main site, where I had pretty abysmal rankings so I could see how well this worked. About 1.5-2 months ago, I ranked in the hundreds on google for “bridal shower favors”.

After spending about 6 hours one day building links from these sites I found (and no other linking for this phrase), you can now check out where my site ranks for “bridal shower favors“. Yep thats right, depending on which datacenter you pull up, my site momentsofelegance.com ranks anywhere from #2 – #4 for this highly competitive keyword phrase.

Here’s how I did it…
The key is to find high pagerank, high authority government and education sites that allow you to submit content and comments, and that pass that authoritative pagerank via do-follow links. How do you find these sites? [ =3,21,22]I used a tool that I use frequently called Market Samurai to discover this linking method, but once you know the basic search, you can perform it for any keyword either in your niche or outside of your niche.

First, for whatever keyword phrase you want to link for, go to Yahoo.com (they offer more results than google so for this kind of search we want to use them instead of Google) and do the following search:

link:http://www.domain.com -site:domain.com (site:edu OR site:gov OR site:govt OR site:fgov OR site:gouv OR site:ac)

Of course replacing “domain” in the example above, with the competitors site you are analyzing. If they are SEO savvy (and highly ranking), you will likely find some results. What this page is pulling up, are government, and educational domains which have forums and blogs that you can leave comments on. You want to click on each of the links within the results, and figure out if the forum is still open and you can leave your own comment or post. Make sure you use your keyword phrase as your “name”, and your URL of course in the domain/url field.

What I found, was these sites are very high in pagerank, and the links within them are do follow links, thus passing along a great deal of link authority to your site. You do not even need to stick to your own competitors to find these sites, pick words or phrases that are very competitive and then use the top ranking sites for that phrase in the search above.

Like I said above, I don’t know how long this will work as I have to think sooner or later either these schools/organizations will realize all the links they are sending out to unrelated sites, or else google may discount them. I will admit the pages do look slightly spammy, but the reason is that for the moment, it is working to pass tons of authority to your site via those links. These links are proving extremely effective for building your site authority and getting ranked highly and quickly. Its hard to argue the effectiveness when you see a boost from page 10 to page 1 entirely because of these links, as I did.

Please provide your feedback as you try this out and let us know if you are seeing similar successes!

How’s that for a sneaky and delicious tip for ya? :)
